In-Home Nursing Aide

At Inspire Hospice, our nursing aides are integral to our dedicated care team. They work alongside our care team to ensure our patients live their days comfortably and safely in their homes while still keeping their independence.

What Are In-Home Nursing Aides?

Nursing aides, often called nursing assistants or CNAs at Inspire Hospice, are passionate individuals who will spend a lot of time with their patients and their families. They will help patients with daily living activities and healthcare tasks while observing their health status from wherever the patient calls home.

What’s The Difference Between Nurses and Nursing Aides?

Both nurses and nursing aides will have a passion for helping people, but a nurse will have a broad scope of practice, whereas nursing aides will provide basic daily care. Generally, nursing aides will work under the supervision of nurses.

The Duties of In-Home Nursing Aides

Our nursing aides are passionate about treating our patients like family through compassionate and personalized care. This will include carrying out duties like:

  • Personal Care

One of the biggest responsibilities of nursing aides is assisting patients with basic daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, oral care, hygiene, and getting dressed. They do this while treating each patient with dignity and respect.

  • Patient Care

Nursing aides provide continuity of care by monitoring vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, and pulse and reporting them to the nursing staff. They also help ensure patients are comfortable by reinforcing dressings and following up on medication reminders.

  • End-of-Life Care

Nursing aides have a key role during this challenging time, providing emotional and physical support for patients and their families.

  • Practical Support

Part of ensuring patients are well cared for is doing the little things, like changing bedding and picking up medical supplies, that can make a big difference. Nursing aides help ensure the patient’s environment is always clean and safe.

  • Mobility Assistance

Nursing aides assist patients with mobility issues by helping turn patients to prevent bedsores, assisting with walking, and transferring patients from beds to chairs.

  • Nutrition Support

Diet plays a huge role in patient health, so nursing aides assist patients with eating and drinking.

  • Emotional Support

At Inspire Hospice, we take a holistic approach to patient care by supporting patients’ physical and emotional well-being. Nursing aides provide comfort by lending a listening ear, reading together, and playing music.

  • Communication and Care Coordination

Nursing aides play an important role in monitoring patients and communicating health changes to the care team and families.
